In addition to direct impact on our children, Teach For India’s long-term theory is to develop leaders who will continue fighting towards educational equity. The impact of the Fellowship on developing Fellows is measured through their growth on the three commitments of Personal Transformation, Collective Action, and the Commitment to Educational Equity.
Personal transformation is the journey of getting closer to being the person you want to be. Watch THIS video to get a glimpse of leadership and transformation in our classrooms.
Through their “Be The Change Projects” in the second year of teaching, Fellows show us the power of collective action as they engage with the community and larger eco-system around them to affect change. Projects include building school management, parent employment empowerment, and active community engagement. Watch THIS video to see how one of our Fellows encouraged all parents in his school to become actively involved in their children’s education.
The commitment to educational equity involves deepening our understanding of the ground realities of inequity and committing to solve it. The classroom becomes a platform for learning about the educational landscape in our country and the challenges that come with it.
