Associate, City Development (Fundraising) - Mumbai

Position Summary:
The Development Associate has the challenging role of building Teach For India Mumbai into a financially sustainable site. This involves raising money for our operations, building long standing relationships and partnerships. It is also an exciting role of building strong external long term partners and investing them in their role to ensure educational equity in the city. This involves creating a fundraising landscape, and conducting research to determine avenues to create long term partners.
Team Overview:
The Mumbai city operations team has the exciting and challenging role of driving the Teach For India vision and mission. This involves training and supporting Fellows to have impact in their classrooms, schools and communities, to have impact on themselves and to prepare Fellows for their post Fellowship journey. The team works with various stakeholders in the city of Mumbai like our Alumni, Government, corporates, foundations, NGOs to drive our vision. Mumbai will be entering into its sixth year of operation in 2016 – 17, we will have ~ 220 Fellows, ~ 23 city operations team members and ~ 200 Alumni working in the city.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Executes the strategy for raising funds for Mumbai with the Development Manager
  • Responsible for raising a significant portion of the Mumbai budget
  • Conducts prospect research to identify strong partners for Teach For India, creating a fundraising landscape for Mumbai
  • Owns end to end support for partners - proposals, grants, engagement activities, fund utilization reports and renewals
  • Leads donor engagement activities (e.g. – corporate volunteering, in kind support etc)
  • Invests Fellows and staff to effectively leverage their networks, and support in engaging our partners (through classroom visits and classroom impact reports etc)
  • Leads and executes fundraising events with support from the Development Manager. (eg – Mumbai Marathon)
  • Finds innovative and sustainable ways to create sustainable funding
Additional responsibilities:
  • Support in other organizational events like Recruitment, Selection, Matriculation or Institute based on interest and skills
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
  • Strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Teach For India’s vision, mission & theory of change.
