From The Classroom

from the class large From The Classroom

Two months into my fellowship journey, and I feel like my life has changed. From going through a roller-coaster first couple of weeks, with the kids having to adjust to a new teacher and me having to acknowledge the fact that on some days, failure with regard to teaching an objective, connecting with every child and classroom management, was unavoidable, my classroom of Oz-some Achievers has completely transformed. Apart from great behaviour, a feeling of one team and a clear understanding of the importance of respecting each other and ourselves, we now have ‘intelligent question’ time in our afternoon meetings where my kids have asked me everything from how the earth was formed, where does rain come from, how are biscuits and clocks made and where does water from a well come from to why do some people need glasses, who made God and why does light come on when we turn on a light switch? I feel like my kids have internalized the importance of school and learning, and have begun to make a commitment to our One Team Mission of graduating from college and getting a great job.
