Shaheen Mistri
Chief Executive Officer
Shaheen Mistri is the Founder and CEO of Teach For India. Over the past three years, Teach For India has placed over 500 Fellows in schools across Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. Two hundred Teach For India Alumni are now impacting our mission from within and outside education.
Prior to coming to Teach For India, Shaheen founded the Akanksha Foundation , a non-profit organization with a mission to impact the lives of low-income children, enabling them to maximise their potential and transform their lives. Akanksha started after-school centers for its students, with a focus on English, math, values and extra-curricular activies and then changed its model to running schools in partnership with the government. Over the past 20 years, Akanksha has expanded from 15 children in one centre to over 4000 children across its after-school centers and 9 schools in Mumbai and Pune.
Shaheen got her Masters in Education from the University of Manchester. She is an Ashoka Fellow (2001), a Global Leader for Tomorrow at the World Economic Forum (2002), an Asia Society 21 Leader (2006) and serves on the boards of Akanksha, Ummeed, and The Thermax Social Initiatives Foundation. She also serves as a committee member for the National Council for Teacher Education (NCERT), overseeing Teacher Education.
Tomos Davies
Chief Operating Officer
Tomos returns to Teach for India from the Teach for All Network where he has worked as a Partner Engagement Director since early 2010. After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Tomos joined the Teach First program, where he taught Science for two years in a Government school in London. This transformative experience instilled the deep belief in him that every child can succeed when given access to an excellent education. He remains an active Teach First Ambassador. After working for an international ethical consultancy firm in 2008 Tomos relocated to India to work with Teach for India.
Dimple Gujral
Chief Finance Officer
Dimple has come to Teach For India with a wealth of Finance experience in large organisations. Her last assignment was with Cleartrip.com, one of leading online travel portals in India – where she was the Associate Vice President for Finance. Prior to that, she has worked with Kuoni Travel (India) Pvt. Ltd. where she achieved savings of nearly INR 10 million due to proper planning, forward covers and negotiations with banks. A qualified Charted Accountant, she completed her graduation in commerce from Narsee Monjee College and also has completed a Diploma course in Import-Export Management.
Kate Rapisarda
City Director, Mumbai
Kate Rapisarda came to Teach For India from Teach For America, where she was a 2007 charter corps member in Denver, Colorado. She taught high school Biology and AP Biology for 3 years. Her teaching experience exposed her to the injustices of the education system and instilled in her a desire to be part of the solution. After working at the TFA Atlanta Summer Institute as a Corps Member Advisor, Kate was inspired to broaden her impact on students and joined the Teach For India team. She worked as a Program Manager and Senior Program Manager on the Mumbai City Team, prior to becoming City Director. Kate is a 2007 graduate of Yale University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology.
Sheela Prasad
City Director, New Delhi
Sheela Prasad came to Teach For India as one of its founding staff members from Teach For America, where she worked with a team to develop the Teaching As Leadership rubric and its supplementary website, the Teaching As Leadership Online Navigator. Before joining Teach For America, Sheela worked in India through the Service Fellowship, Indicorps. During the Fellowship, she developed life -skills curricula at Sai Kripa in Uttar Pradesh and Eklavya in Madhya Pradesh. Sheela is a 2004 graduate of Brown University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Math and History.
Sidharth Agarwal
City Director, Pune
Sidharth joined Teach For India as a Fellow in its first cohort in 2009 and became Teach For India’s first Alumni to lead a city as City Director after graduating from the Fellowship. His vision is to provide an excellent education for Pune’s 500,000 children. Prior to the Fellowship, he worked as a senior consultant at Genpact. Sidharth received an MBA from S.P.Jain, Mumbai in 2006 and a Bachelors in Economics and Maths from Fergusson College in 2002.
Ankit Aggarwal
Director, Technology
Ankit comes to Teach For India with strong Technology and Consulting Experience. His last engagement was with Deloitte Consulting as a consultant where he worked in various sectors like Pharmaceuticals, Retail etc. Prior to Deloitte, he worked with Sapient where he was responsible for implementing path-breaking technologies in BFSI sector. He comes to Teach For India with a strong belief that eradicating education inequality is the stepping stone for India to move forward. He is an engineering graduate and an MBA from IMT Ghaziabad.
Anuja Kishore
Director, Human Resources
Anuja comes to Teach For India with over six years of core HR experience in IT and ITES companies. Her last stint was with Infosys Technologies as a Business Partner HR where she handled the entire gamut of HR activities.through Performance Management, Talent Engagement, Compensation Benefits, Recruitment and HRIS. She was also an active member of the Infosys Foundation. She has been associated with a social initiative engaged in the education and rehabilitation of children and organised fund raising events in Europe. Anuja graduated from Lucknow University where she was an active member of student cultural committee.
Chaitali Sheth
Expansion Director
Chaitali brings to Teach For India a wealth of experience in the development sector, both in India and internationally. She worked for several years with the Akanksha Foundation in various capacities and virtually grew with the organization from Education Coordinator to General Manager, Pune. She completed her Masters in Management of Training and Development from the University of Edinburgh in 2006 and went on to work with the Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council as a Development Worker. Before taking on the challenging responsibility as Expansion Director, Chaitali served as City Director, Pune at Teach For India from 2008 to 2010.
Gayatri Nair Lobo
Director, Development and Alumni Support
Gayatri joined Teach For India after 6 years of working in strategy consulting. She looks after Teach For India’s Alumni Impact, Fund-raising and Expansion efforts. Before joining Teach For India, she was an Engagement Manager at OC&C Strategy Consultants, Mumbai. At OC&C, she worked with several large clients in various sectors like FMCG, Media and Retail. Prior to OC&C, Gayatri worked with Avalon Consulting and HDFC Bank. She has a Bachelor in Commerce with a Masters in Management Studies from Mumbai University.
Maureen Ferry
Director, Impact and Training
Maureen came to Teach For India from Teach For America where she was a corps member in the San Francisco Bay Area and taught middle school Mathematics and Science for four years. During those years, Maureen became deeply invested in the education reform movement in the US and developed a strong belief in the impact of high quality teacher training and support. She began training TFA corps members at the Los Angeles Institute in 2007 and served as Teach For America’s Managing Director of Institute Program for the Los Angeles Institute in 2010. Maureen attended TED India in 2009, which exposed her to the power of the education movement in India and inspired her to come to Teach For India. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology from the University of Michigan.
